Depression is a state of mind when one feels dejected and bored accompanied by a feeling of hollowness from inside. It could be equated with a condition of mental disturbance, typically with lack of energy and difficulty in maintaining concentration or interest on anything.

Symptoms of Depression
1. If you feel sad without any visible reason: this is the first step towards depression, if you have started feeling sad without any visible reason.
2. Inability to feel happiness: most of the people who are suffering from depression don't feel happiness in normal situations where normal people feel happiness they don't feel anything.
3. Loss of interest in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed: dejection from hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed by you
4. Decreased energy level: feeling lethargic and sleepy without any obvious reason is also a symptom of upcoming depression.  
5. Insomnia: when you start feeling difficulty with sleeping. If you have to pop a pill in order to have a peaceful sleep, then probably you are on the danger end depression.
6. Oversleeping: Sleeping all day long without talking to anyone.
7. Eating disorders: eating too much or too little can also be a symptom of upcoming depression.
8. Digestive Issues: having problem with digestion of food can also be linked up with depression because depression causes release of some harmful hormones which could cause problem in digestion.
9. Weight gain & loss: frequent weight loss or weight gain can also be a result of depression.

1. Do Meditation regularly: Meditation has numerous benefits on our body and soul. Meditation is especially helpful in keeping your mind healthy keeping it away from stress and depression.
2. Avoid alcoholic drinks: generally people think alcohol helps in keeping stress away, but conversely all it gives us stress and depression.
3. Do physical exercise daily: Apart from the physical health, physical exercise is also necessary for maintaining your mental health.
4. Don't confine yourself in within four walls: Sometimes sitting alone for long hours without interacting with anyone can also cause depression like conditions.
5. Talk to your friends: talking to friends is always helpful, perhaps hanging out with friends would be the best to combat stress.
6. Keep yourself busy: don't let your mind to wonder over past memories, always keep your mind busy in present.
7. Compliment yourself: Everyone should have to do this thing it is really helpful in combating stress.
8. Eat healthy: Rightly said "As is the food so are your thoughts" so, in order to keep your mind peaceful and calm, eat healthy food and  avoid junk food.
9. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones: whenever you have a negative thought in your mind just replace it with a positive thought.
10. Visit a therapist: and in case if above mentioned things are not working for you then you are supposed to visit a therapist immediately.
